Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has announced he is doing an impromptu gig in Liverpool today.

He will perform at the famous Cavern Club venue, where the band made 292 appearances in just two years between 1961 and 1963.

Tickets are issued on a first-come-first-served basis. The gig will start at 2pm.

The musician revealed yesterday he would be performing a secret show in his home city today, but did not confirm the location.

This week he was also pictured re-creating the famous 'zebra crossing' photo on Abbey Road in London.
