'Incredible' file on war camps

Academics say a newly discovered file containing accounts of Channel Islanders sent to German prison camps during the Second World War is "incredible".

Researchers at Cambridge University planning to write a history of the Channel Islands under German occupation between 1940 and 1945 found the file, which had lain untouched in a wardrobe since its compilation.

They said it contained first-hand accounts of men and women arrested for acts of resistance during the wartime occupation.
