Infirmary warns cars may be clamped

PATIENTS and visitors at Doncaster Royal Infirmary have been warned that their cars may be clamped when a tough new regime is introduced from the beginning of next month.

From Monday, July 5, drivers flouting parking regulations will receive a warning notice. After four warning notices vehicles will be clamped with a release fee costing 30. A spokesman for Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust said: "Most vehicles using trust facilities park sensibly. But drivers are asked to familiarise themselves with the new guidelines."

Drivers will receive a warning notice each time their vehicle is found not displaying a ticket, in a disabled bay, parked on a path, or parked in an area that "presents a potential hazard".

Each warning will be recorded and after the fourth notice and final warning, persistent offenders will be clamped. Staff who repeatedly flout the rules will have their trust parking permit withdrawn or be suspended from parking on the hospital site for 12 months.

The spokesman said consideration would be given to people called to the infirmary in response to an emergency.
