Information appeal on bank robbery

POLICE are appealing for information to trace two vehicles involved in a robbery at the Natwest Bank in Harrogate Road, Chapel Allerton, Leeds.

The robbery took place on Tuesday, June 8 at around 11.45am when two suspects, both wearing balaclavas, reversed a flatbed truck through the back entrance of the bank. They threatened staff with a weapon, believed to have been a metal bar or knife, before making off with cash.

They are thought to have left in a silver 5 series BMW vehicle, found abandoned nearby at Gledhow Court. The BMW, which had false registration plates of YD56 NFF, had been stolen from an address in Rothwell on May 21.

The truck was seen in the area around the bank in the weeks leading up to the robbery. Its registration plate is S695 EVK.

Witnesses are asked to contact North East Leeds CID on 0845 60 60 606.
