Injunction case 'inappropriate' use of public cash

Its action has angered Mr Gove, who warns he will be keeping a close eye on the troubled authority if the Tories win the general election and he becomes Children's Secretary.

"I know the Government have sent in professionals, I hope that it's on a trajectory for improvement and of course we've had a change of political leadership there.

"But it's still the case that Doncaster Council decided it would be an appropriate use of public money to try to suppress what went on.

He added: "The whole point of publishing things is not to point the finger, it's just to make sure that the public can have confidence we're all doing this better. A crucial thing is can we all visibly see a situation is in place now where we've learnt the lessons of how to make children safer?"
