Inquest opens into climber's death
An inquest has opened into the death of a North Yorkshire climber who fell from Great Gable.
Alan Turner, 54, from Northallerton suffered fatal injuries after falling while climbing on the north face of Great Gable, in the Lake District, on the afternoon of Sunday, January 31. The accident happened on Central Gully when Mr Turner and a second man fell while roped together.
