Inquiry as girl found hanged

POLICE are investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl who was found hanged in her bedroom.

The teenager's family said they were "completely devastated" by her death on Monday.

Aimee Critchley, a pupil at All Hallows High School in Penwortham, near Preston in Lancashire, was found by her mother at home in Leyland on Monday evening.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

In a statement issued by Lancashire Police, her family said: "We are completely devastated by the untimely death of our wonderful daughter Aimee. She was a much loved daughter, sister and granddaughter who gave us so much joy.

"Aimee was a very talented dancer and enjoyed art and poetry; she was also an outstanding school pupil.

"We are extremely proud of the person that Aimee was and know that she will now be in heaven with the other angels having earned her wings in life.

"We appreciate all the kind tributes and gestures, which show how many people loved her and is a great comfort to us.

"We ask that we are now left to grieve in peace at this very difficult time."

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances but officers were continuing to investigate.
