‘Irreplaceable’ artefacts stolen in church raid

ARTEFACTS described as “irreplaceable” have been stolen from a church in South Yorkshire.

Burglars broke into St Mary Magdalene Church in Campsall, Doncaster, and took several items including silver cups and a plate.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “The burglary happened between Wednesday, May 4, and Friday, May 6, where the suspects gained entry into the church by breaking into the vestry.

“A number of irreplaceable and valuable artefacts were stolen.

“Police are asking the public to be vigilant and contact them if they come across any of these items.”
