It’s a lucky day for some

IT MIGHT traditionally be a day of bad luck, but it looks like seven is a lucky number for couples tying the knot in a Yorkshire city today.

Staff at York Council’s registrar services admitted brides and grooms usually opt to steer clear of Friday the 13th because of their superstitions. However seven couples have booked to get married there today, despite the date.

Council registration service manager Robert Livesey, said: “Usually one couple might decide to tie the knot on the day that is linked with superstitions, but seven is quite unprecedented and I’m delighted that York Council can help them take this significant step forward in life.”

Four weddings are at the Register Office on Bootham, while the other three are at hotels in the city.
