I've come to terms with split says former EastEnder Ricky Groves

Former EastEnder Ricky Groves has revealed how he has come to terms with his split from wife Hannah Waterman – and doubts he will marry again.

Groves, who also appeared on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing, said he now realised they had "grown apart" and had "put things off", in an interview with Hello! magazine.

Waterman, his Albert Square co-star, famously walked out on the marriage in January after a major fitness drive and weight-loss campaign, leaving Groves devastated.

"At the time it was a real jolt, the worst thing that had ever happened to me," said Groves, who has removed his wedding ring.

"But I've had time to think about it and, as sad as it is, maybe our relationship had become routine and we had grown apart.

"I think I'd just been putting things off, telling myself it would be all right, but then it got to the stage where it wasn't all right any more."

The actor was photographed by Hello! at the Wild Fitness resort in Watamu, Kenya, which he visited to get in shape for yesterday's London Marathon.

He now lives alone in Cambridgeshire in what was the marital home. "I quite like the solitude. I'm not moping around," he said.

Groves said it was "too early" to think about a new love.

And he said: "I don't think I'd get married again, but never say never."

He and Waterman still keep in contact and talk on the phone. "I think Hannah and I will always remain friends," Groves added.
