Jail for rapist who attacked drunken teen

A RAPIST who preyed on a drunken teenager at the end of a night out has been jailed for eight years.

Jamal Ibrahim targeted the 18-year-old who was said to be "almost helpless through drink" and attacked her in a shop doorway in the early hours last April in Leeds city centre.

His victim's ordeal only ended when three passers-by heard her screaming hysterically.

Ibrahim, 29, of Hazelwood Mews, Burmantofts, Leeds, was convicted of raping the girl by a jury after a trial last September and has previous convictions for sexual assault on two other women four years earlier.

Sentencing him at Leeds Crown Court yesterday, Judge John Taylor said Ibrahim had a worrying attitude towards women and recommended his deportation back to Tanzania when he is released.

"It is clear to me on the evidence that your mission that evening was to pick up a female for sexual purposes."

He said the victim had been forced to relive her ordeal at trial when Ibrahim "indicated that the court system was weighted towards women and made a number of other discriminatory remarks towards women".

After sentence Ibrahim shouted: "Justice! That is what you call justice."

Ibrahim denied rape.
