Have your say

BURGLARS who stole from a charity shop in Selby deserve the “disdain” of the public, police say.

The Help the Aged shop on Finkle Street was broken into overnight between 5pm on Tuesday and 8.30am on Wednesday.

Items taken including costume jewellery, costume watches, two eternity rings, a charity collection tin, several pairs of new socks and pants and a small amount of cash.

Stolen costume jewellery included a silver ring with a large aquamarine stone and a Miss Kitty watch. Police are appealing for information.

Pc Julia Allen of North Yorkshire Police said: “I am sure that members of the public will share our disdain that anyone could target a charity in this way and will help us find out who is responsible.

“If you have any information, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it is, please do not hesitate to contact the police.”

Anyone with any information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Pc Julia Allen.
