Jobs fair to be held in student union

A CAREERS fair at which jobseekers can meet potential employers face-to-face will be held in Sheffield next month.

The “Get Hired Sheffield Careers Fair” will take place at HUBs – the former National Centre for Popular Music – in Paternoster Row, on Thursday, September 12.

Joanne Harwood, group category manager at Johnston Press, said: “A job fair is a great opportunity for local candidates to find the job they’ve been looking for.

“By meeting face-to-face with top employers in a relaxed and informal setting, they are able to get a much better understanding of the business’ culture and the type of skills and experience needed for the roles advertised.

“We hope that many candidates will come along to take advantage of the wealth of advice on offer and to start making connections with potential future employers.”

Businesses can find out how to get involved with the careers fair by calling 0114 2894537.

The HUBs – now Sheffield Hallam University’s students’ union – was built at a cost of £15m and opened in March 1999, but closed little more than a year later due to very low visitor numbers.

The university bought it for £1.85m in February 2003.
