Jockey arrested after failure to appear in court
Jockey Graham Gibbons was arrested at Wolverhampton racecourse after failing to answer a drunk and disorderly charge in court last week, police said.
Gibbons, 31, who lives near Driffield, in East Yorkshire, was arrested by West Midlands Police on behalf of the North Yorkshire force after partnering two winners at Dunstall Park yesterday.
A statement from North Yorkshire Police read: “The man was wanted for failing to attend Scarborough Magistrates Court on (Friday) April 26, 2013 to answer a charge of being drunk and disorderly. The offence occurred on Castlegate, in Norton, on April 8, 2013. The man remains in police custody as enquiries continue.”
Kate Hills, communications director for Wolverhampton’s owner ARC, confirmed police had attended, adding: “We understand it is not related to racing.”
