Joint exhibition to celebrate Dales

HAND-PICKED art students from North Yorkshire are to have their work exhibited and sold alongside some of the region’s foremost artists for a new exhibition celebrating the Yorkshire Dales.

Fifteen students from Richmond School, Wensleydale School, Bedale High School, and Polam Hall in Darlington, are to showcase their talents in Landscapes of the Dales, an art exhibition being held at The Station, Richmond, as part of this year’s Swaledale Festival.

Each student will be mentored by a professional artist to produce a pair of works that will be hung and sold together, with the profits shared equally.

“We are delighted to be hosting this key event from the festival programme,” said Irene Lofthouse, gallery manager at The Station, a community-run initiative which attracts 350,000 visitors a year.

“The professional artists have each given their time and expert guidance generously and the students have worked extremely hard to meet their high expectations.

“As a result, the quality of work is outstanding and it promises to be an exciting exhibition.”

The exhibition runs from May 19 to June 7.
