Jubilee waxwork of Queen unveiled

Artist Lisa Burton puts the finishing touches to a new waxwork figure of the Queen which has been created by Madame Tussauds to mark the monarch’s Diamond Jubilee.

The figure is the 23rd mannequin of the Queen to be made by the famous London attraction.

It recreates the image of the head of state from her official Diamond Jubilee photographs, looking regal in a sumptuous gown with full regalia.

Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser and personal assistant, created the original state dress made of white silk, satin and lace with silver-coloured sequins and advised the Madame Tussauds team who made a replica of the gown.

A spokeswoman for Madame Tussauds said: “This is a warmer, softer Queen, the last time we made a model of the Queen was in 2001, so this is a new version and she’s slightly older.”
