Just call me Mr Whippy

On a warm summer day, sales of ice cream rocket and a student at a Yorkshire university has found a way of replenishing stocks quickly by whipping up a litre in world record time.

The secret of success for Andrew Ross, pictured, who is studying for a PhD in Chemistry at Sheffield University, is super-cold liquid nitrogen, mixed with full fat milk, sugar and vanilla flavouring.

Mr Ross made the ice cream in just over 10 seconds during Sheffield's food festival, smashing the previous world record for fast ice cream-making, which stood at 18.78 seconds.
