Katie Price to take on chess champion Anatoli Karpov in Leeds!

MODEL Katie Price is aiming to set a new world record in Leeds with the longest book signing session.

Price, who has also enjoyed huge publishing success, has a target to exceed the eight-hour stint which currently holds the record for a single author signing.

It was set by former world chess champion Anatoli Karpov who signed 1,951 copies of his book in one sitting in 2006.

Price will also rake in thousands of pounds in sales as she attempts to break the Guinness World Records title at the O2 Academy Leeds on July 27.

She will be signing copies of new novel The Comeback Girl and said each fan who attends will have their name printed inside her next book.

If she manages to get 2,000 fans to attend she will clock up sales of nearly £15,000 during the event, at which the book will be sold for £7.49.

Charlotte Bush, publicity director at publisher Random House, said: “The Guinness World Records attempt will be Katie’s 113th signing with Random House and we are determined to make it her biggest yet - so big she’s going to break the world record.”

Price said: “I’ve always had a competitive streak so when it was suggested that I try and break a Guinness World Record for a book signing, I thought ‘Bring it on’. I love meeting my fans.”
