Keeping in with the wax man

Samantha Cameron waxed lyrical yesterday about a figure of her husband, the Prime Minister, at Madame Tussauds.

She was stunned by the likeness of the waxwork model to the man himself, exclaiming: "He just looks the same."

She declined to plant a kiss on his unblemished cheek, saying: "I'm worried I might leave my lipstick on him."

Mrs Cameron was given a sneak preview of the wax figure before it went on view to the general public yesterday at the London tourist attraction.

The artificial version of Mr Cameron cuts a striking figure in front of a mocked-up 10 Downing Street in a dark Paul Smith suit, white shirt and blue tie.

The model cost 150,000 and took a team of 20 people four months to create.

Mrs Cameron praised the talent of the artists and said: "They've done the most incredible job, it's amazing. He looks so real. He just looks identical to him really."

She indicated her husband would give his seal of approval to his doppelganger too.
