Key talks held over trolleybus scheme for city

TRANSPORT bosses in Leeds have held crunch talks with the Government as they push for funding for the city's £250m trolleybus scheme.

Transport Minister Norman Baker last night spoke with Coun Ryk Downes, Deputy Chairman of Metro, the West Yorkshire transport authority, and politicians including Pudsey MP Stuart Andrew.

Metro has said the trolleybus network would help to create 4,000 new jobs and generate a 160m per annum boost for the local economy.

Coun Downes said they had "a positive and sympathetic reaction" from Mr Baker.
