French fashion brand La Redoute has appointed Richard Burke as CEO of Bradford-based La Redoute UK.
Mr Burke, who will report to Michael Truluck, CEO of La Redoute International, succeeds Saida Gallouj, who has moved to the role of head of the group’s online operation laredoute.com.
Mr Burke started his career 20 years ago within warehouse operations.
The French firm said he has built a reputation as a results-driven executive with a proven ability to put in place innovative business solutions and processes.
He rose through the ranks at both Empire Stores and Redcats and has held the role of chief operating officer at La Redoute UK since 2012.
Mr Truluck said: “Richard’s progression in the retail environment, detailed knowledge of the business and his close involvement in the development of our current business strategy made him the ideal choice for the role.
“Richard has a real enthusiasm and passion for ensuring people reach their potential and he has a proven ability to grow great teams which will be pivotal in the success of La Redoute UK.”
Mr Burke added: “It’s an exciting time for the brand and I’m hugely proud to be at the helm of La Redoute UK. In the short term my role is to ensure the business maintains its commercial success while making sure we have a strategy in place to sustain long term growth and profitability.
La Redoute is a market leading e-commerce womenswear business in France and one of Europe’s largest home shopping organisations. It has over 10 million active users worldwide. The group said its UK mission is to bring affordable French style to British wardrobes.
