Labour MP in Cameron talks

Labour MP Frank Field is in discussions with Prime Minister David Cameron over the work of a new Poverty Commission.

But the former welfare Minister played down suggestions he had been recruited as Mr Cameron's anti-poverty tsar, saying that he had only made suggestions about the commission's terms of reference and discussions were "ongoing".

The Tory Prime Minister's approach to Mr Field suggests that Mr Cameron wants to extend the "big tent" of the Tory-Liberal Democrat coalition administration to take in members of Labour.
