The Sitwell Arms in Renishaw, a popular hotel used for weddings, is on the market for £2,995,000 and is being sold due to its current owner retiring.

The hotel sits on the potential HS2 route, with a final decision on whether the new high-speed train line will pass due to be made by the Government this autumn.

There is current uncertainty over whether the HS2 line to Sheffield will go-ahead, after shadow transport secretary Lilian Greenwood suggested the city could be ‘cut out’ of the proposals in a new review.

The 30-bedroom hotel is set across six acres and incorporates two banqueting suites, a fitness centre and a restaurant, as well as separate living quarters for the owner.

The hotel is being marketed by Leeds-based Ernest Wilson Business Sales.

It added that the hotel is an ‘outstanding and imposing property’.

It said the hotel is being sold as the current owner is planning to retire after more than 15 years of running the business.

Parts of the stone-built hotel date back to the 18th Century, when it was a famous coaching inn.
