Last chance to claim energy check

Householders in York are being urged to claim a free energy check which could lead to free insulation or grants for improved heating.

The checks can lead to eligible people being awarded grants for free cavity wall and loft insulation or for new, more efficient heating systems in a move that could leave people with lower fuel bills.

The free energy checks are offered as part of the Warmer Winter project, run by York Council in partnership with York Age UK and Yorkshire Energy Partnership.

It aims to protect residents by helping older and vulnerable people, or those on a low income, to get access to services and grants. Those caring for children under five years old are also eligible.

Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing, City of York Council’s cabinet member for health, housing and adult social care said: “We are urging residents to take advantage of the energy checks before the scheme – and its funding – runs out.”

To book an audit call Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 545020 and quote Warmer Winter.
