Flower-lovers don’t have long left to see the award-winning summer display at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

Last week the summer gardens were awarded a Gold Rose in this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom contest.

But from early October staff at Sewerby and East Riding Council’s grounds maintenance team start replacing summer plants for autumn and winter displays.

Formal gardens at the popular country house were described by judges as stunning, while the zoo and the view over Bridlington Bay were also singled out for praise by the In Bloom judges.

The Gold Rose award was given to Sewerby in the category of Country Houses, Estates, Parks and Gardens.

The judges said: “The staggering amount of events which include sport, musical evenings, community events, concerts and environmental workshops make this site a true asset for Bridlington.”
