CELEBRITY food gurus the Hairy Bikers, who have now turned celebrity trainee cooks for their Hairy Bakers series, were getting some old-fashioned Yorkshire know how yesterday at Bettys of Harrogate.
The duo, Dave Myers and Simon King, who have made their name motorcycling around the world in search of interesting dishes, learned how to make a Christmas chocolate log at the company bakery in Starbeck.
The Harrogate business was filmed as part of a Hairy Bakers Christmas Special, which will feature both the shop and a baking class being taught by Sarah Sutton and Joanne Baron, of Bettys.
The finished log will be served at a banquet at Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, which will be a highlight of the festive episode of the programme.
A Bettys spokesman said craft baking, making the product by hand, had become much less common because of mass production – but was what Bettys did best.
