A police chase through North and West Yorkshire took place after a car was allegedly stolen from a home in Skipton.

Three men have been arrested after a break-in at a house in Threshfield, Skipton, during which the owner's Toyota Aygo was taken.

Police were contacted at 2.55am today by the homeowner, reporting that he had been allegedly woken up by intruders in his home who had taken the car keys to his car and had made off from the property in the vehicle.

At 3am two officers saw a vehicle travelling towards Skipton on the B6265 and continued to track it until it reached the roundabout at Grassington Road, where two traffic officers then joined them.

North Yorkshire Police said that when instructed to stop, the car allegedly failed to do so and continued to travel at speed on the A629 in the direction of Keighley, where officers from West Yorkshire Police then joined the pursuit.

The vehicle continued along the A629 and onto the A650, before reaching Church Street in Bingley.

Three men aged 29, 25 and 24 from Bradford were arrested on suspicion of a burglary dwelling with intent to steal and currently remain in police custody.
