Flood warnings still in place in the UK after heavy and persistent rain

Last week saw weather conditions turn wet and windy, with many places throughout the UK hit by heavy, continuous rain over the weekend.

This led to flood warnings beings issued for numerous places, and many of these are still in place in England and Wales.

Flood warnings currently in place

Twenty flood warnings are currently in place, with the Environment Agency explaining that this means “Flooding is expected - immediate action required”.

A flood warning is more severe than a flood alert, but it is not as serious as a severe flood warning, which means a possible danger to life.

River Ouse at Linton Lock

River Ouse at Naburn Lock

River Ouse at York - Riverside properties

River Ouse at York - St George`s Field and Queen`s Staith

River Severn at Hampton Loade and Highley

River Severn at Ironbridge and Jackfield

River Severn at Quatford

River Severn at Shrawardine, Montford Bridge and Mytton

River Severn at Shrewsbury

River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury

River Swale at Helperby

River Swale at Howe village and by Skipton Bridge

River Swale at Kirby Wiske

River Swale at Myton on Swale

River Swale at Thornton Bridge

River Ure at Aldwark Bridge to Cuddy Shaw

There are also 28 flood alerts currently in place. This means ‘Flooding is possible - be prepared’.
