A teenage girl was taken to hospital for treatment after she was injured by part of a rollercoaster at Flamingo Land.

Two people were struck by a foot rail, which came off a moving carriage on the Hero Ride in the incident at the theme park and zoo in Kirby Misperton, near Malton, on Friday.

A 26-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the park, while the teenager was taken to Scarborough General.

It is understood the Health and Safety Executive and North Yorkshire Police are now investigating the incident.
