The flexible role also comes with a holiday entitlement and a bonus.

Cat-sitters visit felines in their owners' homes while they are away. They feed, clean and entertain the pets and try and mimic their regular routine.

Although the jobs are primarily to provide cat care, the successful candidate will also be required to look after birds, rats, rabbits, fish, tortoises and reptiles on occasion. Training will be provided in exotic animal handling.

The job advertisement stipulates that applicants should have a genuine love of cats, confidence in working with animals, and be happy to work alone. They need a good level of general fitness and should be willing to work at different times of day. You will also need a driving licence and be comfortable speaking to clients.
