Leeds couple killed in crash in East Yorkshire

The couple, from Leeds, died when their car collided with a Range Rover on a country road in the Yorkshire Wolds yesterday morning.

The 70-year-old male driver and his 65-year-old female passenger were in a silver Vauxhall Meriva, which was in collision with the Range Rover, travelling in the opposite direction, on the B1251 between Fimber and Fridaythorpe, police said.

They have not been named.

The driver of the Range Rover, a 76-year-old Fimber man and a female front seat passenger escaped without serious injuries and were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police are asking witnesses who saw the accident, around 11.50am, or either of the vehicles in the run up to the crash to call them on 101.
