Leeds dad's record breaking bid to visit 12 countries in 24-hours

A LEEDS MAN will attempt to break the world record for the number of countries visited in 24-hours using only planes, trains and buses.

Father-of-three Adam Leyton, 39, of Horsforth, will set off in France on May 25 and will travel through a further 11 countries before, hopefully, finishing in Austria just under 24 hours later.

He intends to set a new world record of 12 countries, beating the current record of 11 set in 1993.

Mr Leyton (pictured) is raising money for Sands, a charity which offers support to people affected by the death of a baby before, during, or shortly after birth.

Six years ago, Mr Leyton’s sister Gemma, 31, last her baby daughter Tilly Rose just five days before she was due to be born.

Mr Leyton said: “With the EU referendum on June 23, it seemed the perfect time to see how much of Europe I can see in a day. If public transport runs on time I should be OK, but it’s a big if.”

He added: “The support Sands gave to my sister and her family was incredible. This is my way of saying thank you to them and I’m hoping I can raise a few pounds for this wonderful charity.”
