Leeds Met appoints new director amid shake-up

LEEDS Metropolitan University has created a new post to direct its international office as part of an on-going shake up of its management team.

Andrew Disbury has joined Leeds Met as a director from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. The move south comes after he spent three years as director of student recruitment and admissions.

Before this he worked at the British Council in China where he was responsible for education relations between the country and the UK.

He said: "I am delighted to be working at Leeds Met.

"Colleagues are extremely warm and welcoming, and both campuses are stunning.

"There is great passion here among staff and students both for the quality of the education and the lifestyle in Leeds.

"It's wonderful for me to become part of this exciting higher-education enterprise."

He is returning to Yorkshire having studied for a degree at Leeds University and a masters at Sheffield Hallam.

The new post is the latest in a series of senior appointments at the university including three new deputy vice chancellors and a director of corporate marketing and communications.

Lord Woolmer of Leeds also became the university's new chairman of governors last October. Professor Susan Price joined as vice chancellor last January and has worked to develop a new strategic plan for the institution.
