A Yorkshire Water spokesman said, “Our technicians and a repair team from our contractors, Morrison Utility Services, are currently dealing with a burst water main in Great George Street in the centre of Leeds.

“Great George Street has been closed to vehicles and we apologise to motorists who are being affected by the closure.

“We anticipate that the water main will be repaired today but the burst had caused significant damage.
