Life-savers to put their skills on show

the emergency services are preparing to show off their life-saving skills in a major public show next month.

The Emergency Services Show on Saturday July 9 takes place at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service HQ in Bradford Road, Birkenshaw, Bradford.

It will involve all three emergency services and almost 100 charities and community groups, including the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, Mountain Rescue, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and emergency planning officials.

A range of fire service appliances will be on display, as well as police demonstrations of riot training, dog handing and underwater capabilities. There will be combined demonstrations by the fire service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service in a designated crash rescue area.

There will also be fairground rides, donkey rides, circus tricks, an Army assault course and a farmers’ market.

Dance troupes and majorettes will be performing for the crowds.

The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Pipe and Concert Bands will also entertain visitors,

The event will run from noon until 4pm.

It costs £1 to enter, with children under 10 free.
