The artwork, entitled ‘Momentous’, is by international artist group Illuminos, who have transformed the Civic Hall into a giant traditional clock, in a celebration of renowned Leeds clockmaker William Potts.

On the quarter-hour chime the building bursts into life as hundreds of Leeds people appear as clockwork figures upon the structure.

Leeds Council’s executive member for leisure and skills, Coun Lucinda Yeadon, said: “There really is something for people of all ages to enjoy, with the centrepiece event being the spectacular transformation of Leeds Civic Hall into a giant traditional clock. I would recommend to anyone wishing to take part in Light Night to look at the programme beforehand and plan their route around the city centre.”

The light installation at Leeds Civic Hall will run from 7.30pm to 10.30pm tonight. It also took place last night and will be repeated on Saturday evening.
