Lock gates replaced in £120,000 scheme

A lock has been fitted with new gates as part of a £120,000 scheme under British Waterways' annual maintenance programme.

The old gates, which have been in place for 25 years, at the Grade II listed Linton Lock on the River Ouse were lifted out by crane to be replaced by ones made at British Waterways' Stanley Ferry Workshop in Wakefield.

Work on the scheme was halted a number of times, as rising water, due to heavy rain, made the site unworkable.
