Long live the King

THE pose is as important as the quiff, the sequins and the glasses, and Dave Garrity, 42, of Bridlington, was hoping it would all come together for him at this year’s Elvis Masters Championships, which ended yesterday.

Tribute performers from all over the world descended on Bridlington Spa to compete for the coveted trophy and title of Elvis Masters Champion, a cash prize and a unique tailored jump suit, for the competition which was the centrepiece of the third Bridlington Elvis festival.

The impersonators hoping to convince as the King were judged by a panel of expert judges who included Ed Bonja, the tour manager and official photographer for Elvis Presley from 1970 to 1977, Elvis author Julie Munday, and one of the Spa managers Jo Clarke, who is a long-time fan.
