‘Lost’ men used map trick to steal from pub

TWO men pretended to be lost and stole people’s possessions while asking for directions in a pub.

The thefts happened at about 6.15pm on Sunday at Spa Lane Vaults in St Mary’s Gate in Chesterfield.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said yesterday: “A mobile phone and an iPod were stolen from two separate people in the bar after a man approached the people and placed a map on the table.

“Shortly after the men had gone, both people realised they were missing their items.”

The police spokesman said that one of the men is described as Asian with dark shaven hair, and was wearing a pink T-shirt and jeans.

The other man was said to be wearing a blue hooded top with dark trousers.
