Lottery winner admits £11,500 benefit fraud

A LOTTERY winner who claimed a £250,000 windfall was later caught swindling benefits.

Disabled Michael Lunn, 56, scooped the cash on the National Lottery in May 2006 and used it to renovate a home, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

But despite the windfall he continued to claim income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit totalling 11,500.

He was given a 12-week jail term suspended for a year.

He has not worked in 17 years since a back injury.
