Love is in the air for Peak District

Tourism bosses in the Peak District have launched a campaign which aims to sell the idyllic landscapes of the country park to couples looking for a romantic break.

Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, the area's official tourist board, have come up with the Fall in Love with the Peak District drive in a bid to capitalise on St Valentine's Day.

Events planned include helicopter flights over the Derwent Valley on the famous 'Dambusters Run', guided walks amid famous landscapes featuring in the film Pride and Prejudice and walks through snowdrops at Hopton Hall, near Wirksworth.

David Thornton, deputy chief executive of Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, said staff were even looking for the public to submit their romantic stories with links to the park. He added: "We have the perfect destination for anyone looking for an out-of-season short break – whether they're new to the area or have been before but are keen to rediscover its many charms and see it in a whole new light."

"And we'd love to hear from anyone who has an interesting tale to tell about where they fell in love in our beautiful and unique area – we'll be sharing the very best stories with visitors to our website."
