M1 fully reopened after HGV crash which caused FIVE hours of delays for Leeds drivers

Have your say

The M1 has fully reopened after five hour delays caused chaos for motorists travelling on the motorway last night.

Both carriageways of the M1 were closed after a HGV overturned between junctions 46 for Colton and Garforth and 45 for Cross Green yesterday afternoon.

The HGV driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital after the air ambulance was summoned to the scene.

The southbound carriageway was blocked by the accident and the northbound lanes were also shut to allow the helicopter to land, and to allow debris to be cleared.
