Make the most of solar energy and transform your heating bills

Sustainable and renewable energy sources are being used in homes and businesses across the region and may be coming to your door far sooner than you think.

Established in 1992, Winterwarm is a family owned business with an established track record of advice, support and installation of affordable, practical renewable energy solutions. Winterwarm prides itself on a commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards of customer service and workmanship in the domestic, industrial and commercial sectors.

The energy from the sun can be used to generate two types of power, namely electricity and heat. Solar collectors that collect the sun’s energy to transform into electricity are called “photovoltaic” (PV) and the solar collectors that collect the sun’s energy to transform into heat is called “solar thermal” or “solar heating” and can be used to heat domestic hot water. Even in the UK, solar water heating can typically provide almost all hot water requirements during the summer months and averages around 70 per cent year-round performance.

In April, the Government introduced an incentive scheme, which means electricity PV systems now make even more sense. The scheme includes paid “Feed-in Tariffs” (FITs) for producing electricity. In addition, you can use the electricity produced free of charge.

The Government introduced FITs in order that businesses, domestic householders and social housing could embrace renewable technology.

FITs are the electricity part of what some people call Clean Energy Cashback, a scheme that pays people for creating their own “green electricity”.

The tariffs have been introduced by the Government to help increase the level of renewable energy in the UK towards our legally binding target of 15 per cent of total energy from renewables by 2020. They are worked out as a bonus payment for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of surplus electricity your system exports to the electricity grid.

When this payment is received, you are effectively selling that electricity to the energy supply company, which can then deliver it to other customers.

This payment has been established to provide an incentive for energy efficiency, as you will get paid extra for every kWh you don’t use but export instead.

Solar PV works in direct or indirect sunlight. Create your own electricity, making your property more energy efficient and reduce your electricity costs forever. Winterwarm can help you or your business reduce your carbon footprint and help reduce the effect of climate change.

Winterwarm has a wealth of experience working in the grants and incentive sector, giving it a unique insight into the application, fitting and registration process required to ensure you receive the highest level of FIT. The company is working in partnership with Mitsubishi in the renewables market and all its products are MCS approved while all installation staff are fully trained to the highest possible standard and the company is MCS approved.

Winterwarm is a growing and developing business and in the current financial year intends to double its workforce with the creation of 25 new jobs due to the high levels of enquiries received for renewable products.

It looks forward to advising business and domestic clients on the most beneficial and appropriate renewable energy systems and sources to meet your individual needs, boasting an after-care service second to none.

Since 1992, Winterwarm has carried out more than 54,000 installations in the insulation, heating and renewables market.

In addition to solar panel (solar collector technologies), Winterwarm can advise domestic and commercial clients on a range of key renewable technologies and systems including air source heat pumps, which absorb heat from the outside air which can then be used to warm water for radiators or underfloor heating systems, or to warm the air in your home. Ground source heat pumps are another option.
