Make that a treble as cider pub
celebrates another clean sweep

A HULL pub has been voted the best bar none – for an unprecedented third year.

The Hop & Vine in Albion Street has been voted the winner in Yorkshire Camra’s Regional Cider & Perry Pub of the Year competition.

Over 300 pubs selling real cider across all the Yorkshire branches were eligible in a record year.

Camra’s’s Yorkshire Cider Co-ordinator David Litten said: “We had some very good entries this year but it was the Hop & Vine that came out on top for the third successive year. They are doing a fantastic job raising the profile of real cider and perry and offering consumers a fine choice at the bar and maintaining their standards year on year.”

The 2013 Good Beer Guide describes the free house as an “atmospheric basement bar with rare bentwood seating”, with an interesting menu of freshly-made snacks. It has served 237 different real ciders and perrys from 80 different farms in the last 6 years.

Licensee Stewart Campbell said: “We are proud to celebrate a great British drink by only selling cider and perry made wholly from apples and pears and not stocking fizzy concentrate ‘cider’.”
