A MAN has admitted the murder of his partner at their Sheffield home.

Mazher Nawab, 42, stabbed his 39-year-old Anayat Bibi at their home in Vickers Road in the Firth Park area of the city on August 10 last year, Sheffield Crown Court heard today.

Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sean Middleton said Ms Bibi “suffered a sustained attack” at the hands of her partner.

“I am pleased that Nawab entered a guilty plea today and spared Anayat’s family the distress and ordeal of a trial,” he said.

“Domestic violence can have tragic consequences and my condolences go to Anayat’s family, who are still trying to come to terms with their loss.

“I hope that the guilty plea today brings them some small comfort.”

Nawab will be sentenced January 28.
