A LEEDS man has admitted owning a dangerous dog that attacked a pregnant woman in her own home resulting in her death.
Lee Horner, 33, pleaded guilty to owning the animal, called Dollar, that attacked his 27-year-old girlfriend Emma Bennett.
Ms Bennett was pregnant with her fifth child at the time of the attack, that took place in a house in Leeds in December.
A second dog, named Bella, was involved in the incident but Leeds Magistrates’ Court heard it was disputed whether this was also classed as a dangerous dog.
Deputy District Judge David Scanlon adjourned proceedings until June 16 when he said a trial would take place regarding the second dog and he would then pass sentence.
He told Horner that he would obtain a certain amount of credit for his guilty plea.
At the time police said that early indications were that the two dogs seized from the address were American pit bull terriers and tests were continuing to establish their exact make-up.
The charges relate to a breach of Section One of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
