Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Sheffield gunfire

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shots were fired in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police officers detained the suspect in the Hoyland area of Barnsley yesterday, several days after an incident in Burncross Road, Chapeltown.

Officers were called to reports that shots had been fired in Burncross Road on Friday at around 11pm. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Soon after, five men and one woman were arrested in Rotherham on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and were bailed pending further enquiries.

The newly arrested suspect remains in custody today and is being questioned by officers.
