Man bailed over attack on rugby league fan

A TWENTY-nine-year-old man from Pontefract arrested in connection with an assault on Halifax rugby league fan David Singer, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Two other men, aged 29 and 26, arrested previously also remain on police bail as police inquiries into the attack on Mr Singer continue.

The 32-year-old, of Halifax, was leaving the Halliwell Jones Stadium at Warrington, Cheshire, at 8.15pm Sunday, September 26 after seeing his team beat Featherstone Rovers, when he was assaulted.

He was left in a coma from which he has not recovered.

He was initially treated at Warrington hospital, but later transferred to a hospital in Leeds, ehere his parents remain near his bedside.

His condition remains critical, but stable.

The 29-year-old man has been bailed until December 8.

Police continue to appeal to fans leaving the Halliwell Jones Stadium after the game to come forward with any information they may have.

They believe the assault on Mr Singer will have been witnessed by those leaving the stadium.
