Man bailed over Rotherham murder

A 55-year-old man has been bailed after he was arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Rotherham.

Julie Gallagher, 41, died from a single stab wound to the chest, and her body was found at a house on Foljambe Road, Eastwood, at 12.30pm on Saturday.

South Yorkshire Police said Ms Gallagher was last seen in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving the Cranworth Public House, in Fitzwilliam Street, alone.

A force spokeswoman said there was no sign of forced entry at the house where her body was found.

The arrested man, from Eastwood, has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
