Man charged over Afghanistan tragedy comments on Facebook

a TEENAGER from Dewsbury will appear in court after making comments on Facebook about the deaths of six soldiers in Afghanistan last week.

Azhar Ahmed, 19, was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence after posting the comments on his profile page on the website, West Yorkshire Police said.

Ahmed, of Fir Avenue, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, will appear at Dewsbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 20.

He was arrested on Friday and charged over the weekend. He has been bailed to an address outside the county.

The Facebook comments were made after the deaths of the six men, five of whom were Yorkshire Regiment soldiers.
